Im a little biased here but I too have to agree with DD- Barcelona is the place to be.
Definetely make a quick stop by the PLAZA CATALUNYA as this plaza is regarded as the "center" of Barcelona, It is a bustling and exciting activity area with shops and street entertainers and is located near Las Ramblas.
LAS RAMBLAS (across the street from the Plaza) is one of the main sites in Barcelona. It is a long pathway through the heart of the city center. You have many cafes, restaurants, street performers and shops along the way.
Stop by the Barcelona CATHEDRAL. This is a massive Gothic Cathedral located in Barcelona's famed Gothic Quarter, started in 1298 and finally completed in 1913. The Cathedral is a classic example of stunning Gothic architecture. Right in front of the Cathedral is a square full of shops, cafes and street performers.
Visit the SAGRADA FAMILIA. This basilica is the most popular tourist attraction in Barcelona. The work on the church was started in 1882 by the famous master builder Antoni Gaudi and is still uncompleted up to this day.
Go to MONTJUIC HILL and visit the beautiful castle 'Castell de Montjuic'. This castle was built in 1640 in order to withstands the troops of Felipe IV.
There are so many things to see in Barcelona that you will spend every single day sightseeing this beautiful city. My suggestion to you is wear comfortable shoes as you will do a lot of walking, take a camera and purchase tickets to take the red sightseeing buses. These buses go throughout the entire city stopping at the most popular sites, you are able to get off the bus at any time you want to explore the city and take pictures or grab something to eat and when you want to go to another spot just go to any assigned bus stop and take another ride by the next available sightseeing bus.
