What are some of the reasons a woman will have their period for 3 consecutive weeks???... I have made an appt to see my Gyno this week so I will know what's going on but I am a little worried and nothing on the internet gives me a definite answer as to what it could be!.. I was wondering if anyone here has gone through the same things. Thanks.

I am glad you have made an appt to see your Doctor as 3 weeks is a very long time to have a period. Is there any possibility you might have gotten pregnant? Other than a possible miscarriage from a pregnancy, there are several reasons for having a lengthy period. You could have benign tumors (called fibroids) that are causing the bleeding, or you could be experiencing a hormonal imbalance which can prolong your period. There are other causes also but what you need is a doctor to examine you to determine what is causing this. It is important not to let the bleeding go unchecked as you can develop anemia from the loss of blood. Good Luck and keep us posted.
