Do you think that its fair that the government should be able to withhold ALL of your refund for some past obligation? It would be nice if they could only take a portion. Like half for the taxpayer

Do you think that its fair that the government should be able to withhold ALL of your refund for some past obligation? It would be nice if they could only take a portion. Like half for the taxpayer and half for the government.

Yes, I think it's completely fair.

Well you work all year long, and finally at tax time you can maybe afford to get a break by getting a refund, so I think that they should only be allowed to withold a portion but not all your return.

Yes, It is fair but it would actually be nice if they just took a portion of it. It is fair though because they do use the money (maybe some of the money) to help out the country.
