NYC Mayor Bloomberg just took time from his speach to address his 'spanish-speaking' constituents that schools will be open tomorrow. What do you think? You think is cool that our mayor is also addressing the Spanish community in their language, what about the other nationalities, why Spanish?

Spanish is the second most common language in the US and I imagine NYC is nothing different. Bloomberg is actually smart by taking a few minutes to directly communiate with this large 'minority' group... after all they are the ones that helped put him up in office.

As porcupine said, Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States. I do not agree with other languages being plastered all over the US though. If I move to Germany, I have to learn German. If I move to France, I have to learn French... why is it different for us? Learn English! Everyone is capable of learning English and if you come to our country, put the effort into it! We do make it easy for spanish speaking people because almost EVERYTHING has both languages written on it.
