Quitting cold turkey can be very difficult, especially for people who have been smoking many cigarettes a day for a long period of time. Nicotine withdrawal can be very unpleasant making it almost impossible for smokers to quit for good. The important thing to remember is that the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal decrease over time. First you need to pick a quit date that is far enough in the future to make plans, but close enough that an end date is near and stick to that date. Mark the date in your calendar and quit smoking on THAT day. If you can make it through the early days of quitting cold turkey, it will get easier to avoid picking up cigarette smoking again as time goes by. Plus, remember quitting smoking not only will save you money but it will reduce the risk of Cancer and other diseases.
