Do you think it is necessary to have so many different types of math classes in High School. It seems most people do not use half the math they teach in those classes?
I think they need to teach more practical math.... like how to do your taxes, how to balance a checkbook.... things of this nature. I am 27 and still have never used a graph in my life lol
It's unnecessary if you wish students to come out of high school with a lower standard of learning than many other countries, and become less competitive in fields such as medicine, engineering, computers, and anything in the scientific field. If you really wanted to only teach what was practical or necessary, you could pretty much stop after learning how to spell your own name and tie your own shoes.
Personally I'm taking a Calc class in school. Though I'm not doing too well in the class, I like it. It's a challenging class, and if I didn't take it. I would be wasting all the math I learned through the past years, and just waste it for nothing. It also opens your eyes bit, makes you realize that nature and life follows a pattern as so preached by my teacher
