How do I remove the dark and sticky build up from the bottom of my iron? I tried the warm water w/ vinegar solution and it took most of it out but there is still some left and it is staining my cloth

How do I remove the dark and sticky build up from the bottom of my iron? I tried the warm water w/ vinegar solution and it took most of it out but there is still some left and it is staining my clothes.. Do I really have to buy a new iron?
